On October 21, 2011, I participated in my first Over The Edge fundraiser for the Special Olympics. The objective is the raise at least $1000 and you get to rappel 25 stories or 400 feet down the side of the Suntrust Building in Richmond, Virginia. For every additional $1000 the reward is bringing a guest to go with you Over The Edge. I not only exceeded my goal of $2,000 by $313, but I got to bring my brother-in-law Brian Enroughty with me.
I love the adrenaline when it comes to doing things like this so when my name was called I almost jumped off before they even had me fully clipped to the safety system. The picture taken above was right as I had leaned back while waiting for Brian to get into the same position. We rappelled at a consistent pace stopping a few times for paparazzi. It took about ten minutes to get down and I would have done it again right then if they would have let me.

I participated in this event first and foremost to raise money for the Special Olympics of Virginia and feel very good about the $90,000+ that we raised. The bonus prize was getting to do something fun in return which Over The Edge did a great job providing.
Thank you to all those at The Special Olympics and Over The Edge for putting on such a great event. If you are interested in donating or participating in the 2012 Over The Edge please use the links below.
